You have to choose complex carbohydrates over simple carbohydrates

Complex carbohydrates, also known as long-chain carbohydrates, are slowly absorbed into the blood stream as glucose. This does not cause a spike in insulin, which is a chemical that hampers fat loss.
On the other hand, simple carbohydrates are rapidly absorbed into the blood stream. They cause blood glucose level to skyrocket. In an attempt to bring this level down, insulin would be released in large quantities to convert glucose into glycogen reserves for storage. A sharp drop in the blood glucose level would lead to a sudden craving for more food-excessive calorie intake!
This explains why eating too much white rice would make you feel hungry in a short time. Examples of complex carbohydrates are brown rice, cereal, baby potatoes and wholemeal bread. Examples of simple carbohydrates include flour, white bread and white rice.
